She had never felt the need for company as much as she's felt recently. Being a loner was something that Katniss had been good at most of her life. She hadn't had many friends in school, nor had she felt the need to meet more than the few she had already in her life. Then this nightmare had happened. Only it hadn't been a nightmare. It had been real. Suddenly, Katniss found herself alone in the world and needing company more than she ever needed in her life.
That this girl might be a marauder doesn't even cross her mind. Katniss is too relieved to see someone, anyone, that's real. Real and healthy. That's all that matters right now. She doesn't have a lot of energy herself but it doesn't stop Katniss from rushing forward.
"Katniss," she replies. And then a little louder, she repeats, "Katniss Everdeen. What's your name?"
